The 2nd Amendment is about “the Security of a Free State”—the U.S. Government, IOW. This “tyranny resistance” bullshit was kited for absolutely the first time in an article in a RW fringe fishwrap in 1960, and the “self-defense” bullshit is even later. Fat Tony’s misbegotten Heller decision is absolutely the first SC decision that finds anything other than the Security of the State in the 2nd Amendment.

Ongoing observation: their operating premise is that most Americans aren’t Real Americans and deserve absolutely nothing.

Which is why nominally they’re about “freedom” but give no shits about every other variant of “freedom” out there and are instead bound up with social conservative and reactionaries who want to take away basic freedoms…except for their guns.
