What bugs me about these knuckleheads is the whole question of whether Intelligent Design belongs in science classes has already been adjudicated. A Republican-appointed federal judge ruled in Kitzmiller v Dover Board of Education that intelligent design was patently a disguised version of creationism, a religious belief, and therefore could not be taught in the public schools. While his ruling technically would only apply initially to his district, it serves as a national precedent, and doubtless other federal judges would rule the same way. All these loons are opening themselves up to a civil complaint and expensive legal fees, and a losing court case.

They want a court case, they want publicity, they want to present themselves as the modern-day Galileos vs the Secular Inquisition.
