Now there’s a first. Usually I’ve seen praise for Obama by comparing him to Lincoln — not that I think it makes much sense. But to smear him by comparing him to Lincoln is beyond absurd. Then again we have been seeing a great deal of “the theater of the absurd” in recent months.

Lincoln was not tremendously popular in the South amongst a significant portion of the population, as you might imagine. My maternal grandmother certainly expressed her dislike on occasion.
