I think I would stop talking to my father if my mother developed Alzheimer’s and he did this. They’ve only been together since they were fourteen, though, so it’s a passing relationship.

If were a horrible marriage and the sick person had been an abuser … I can see situations where it might be excusable, but in general —why would you want to divorce your spouse? I wouldn’t.

then again, I take the sacraments seriously.
