From what I’ve read, they’ve done pretty much all they can. The problem with lowering reservoirs in South Dakota on the Missouri is that they are already at low levels. Likewise for the smaller reservoirs/lakes in Iowa and Illinois that would dump into the Mississippi via tributaries.

The recent blizzard brought precipitation to IA and IL, but that will take time to make its way down the watershed.

Well what about where the river drains into the Gulf. If you can’t add to the level in the river than try to hold what is there in.
