Too true. Propaganda is not about persuasion, it is about affirming what people desperately want to believe, manipulating media placement to give your case major attention before the opposition can respond.
I don’t compare activist journalists to Goebbels just to be an asshole or thumb my nose at Godwin (that’s a fringe benefit). I do it because this is how Goebbels actually worked. He didn’t invent these techniques, but he did adapt them to broadcast media, refine them to perfection, and make them a major factor in world affairs.

We invented them. Right here in the U.S. The (CPI) Creel commission report was the primary source material that Goebbels studied. Nobody in the history of the world has been so skilled at propaganda and mass persuasion as the American PR industry. Nobody.
