I’m not sure I’m seeing where you disagree. Soon there will be a vote to raise the debt ceiling, both sides will take 180 degree opposite views than they held in 2006, and the debt ceiling will be raised again. Is your point that Dems were actually for raising the ceiling in ‘06?

I think I agree with you: the more I look at this, the more it smells like politics as usual. Boehner will try to get whatever he can for the GOP out of it, Reid/Obama will resist, and we’ll see who blinks.

I further assume that each party will approach this on the basis that it will set the tone for the rest of the session, so they will be doing a ton of posturing. So we have a lot of ugly rhetoric to look forward to, I guess.
