You ride past a line of cars, you need a 3 foot buffer to avoid getting doored. If moving over enough for cars to pass puts you in the door zone, you’re endangering yourself for the convenience of others. Fuck that noise.

Once, something like fifteen years ago I had someone try to door me on purpose. Totally empty street early in the morning on my way to work, no traffic, made eye contact through his rear view mirror, and something just seemed wrong. So I swerved out just as he threw the door out trying to catch me and cleared it by inches.

Also when I was in college there was a series of police reports in the local paper about some asshole with an umbrella walking on the Burke-Gillman who would clothesline or attempt to clothesline cyclists on the trail. Don’t know if they ever caught that asshole.

Some people are just fucking mean, news at eleven.
