In Russia it all started from mere rhetoric. (A very similar rhetoric to that of the American right-wing, BTW; with the difference being that it was a conjunction of the anti-liberal left and right, the “red-brown” alliance, if you will). I gotta gather myself and write a series of posts on that.

Yep, it always starts with mere rhetoric. I’m almost done with my antisemitism book, and I’ve seen it over & over again. And it’s not just antisemitism, it’s the same dynamic with all forms of what I think of as “Otherism”—it’s dangerous no matter where it happens or who is being targeted: Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Blacks, Hispanics, non-Ethnic Russians, etc.
