The M3 was a tough ride. It had riveted armor which meant that the crew could be taken out by their own popped rivets if the thing took a hit from a non-AP round. One did serve well with Humphrey Bogart in “Sahara,” (!943).

I had to work up an accident report on one at Knox in 1977. They took one out of the museum for a parade and squashed a mailbox.
