The media hyped that. The vast bulk of us embraced them 100%. My husband coached players who evacuated from New Orleans for years.

The Katrina evacuees who settled here permanently are a welcome and vital part of our city. They added another layer to the most diverse city in the United States. Everyone is welcome here.
