I use the Magnum Lottery Pension Plan:

1) buy a lottery ticket every week until retirement age

2) if I still haven’t won by then, I go out and buy a .357 Magnum and knock over a bank.

3) Even if I get caught, I am guaranteed a roof over my head, meals and medical care for the rest of my life…

LOL. Better than my wife’s retirement plan.

She’d amassed over a quarter-million dollars in her retirement plan from Digital Equipment Corporation. After it passed through Compaq and landed at Hewlett-Packard, HP decided to outsource the Digital retirement fund to a too-big-to-fail bank.

By the time the court cases against the bank from former Digital employees were completed, her retirement fund had shrunk from $250,000 to $54,000. The rest had evaporated in the stock market from the bank. (All that happened before I met her.)

A couple years ago she got her settlement cheque from the court case. We took the money and deposited it in the agricultural bank in Lisco (population 68), figuring it was much safer there in an IRA than letting any too-big-to-fail bank get their mitts on the remainder.
