That’s completely true. Every unmoderated comment thread everywhere eventually gets turned into a wasteland. (If it doesn’t, that’s only because there aren’t enough people reading it).

Yep , just look at the comments on youtube, for example. I think that’s like the final state of entropy that unmoderated forums reach.
