The WH protocol office would have a list of prior gifts to the Queen. It would have been symbolic of the ties between the two countries.

It’s not just the iPod if I didn’t know any better I would say Obama was going out of his way to insult GB. His gifts to and treatment of PM Brown, his choice of gifts.
