Oh, and let’s play the originalist/contextualist game too.
If a founding father only had access to smoothbore muskets, some single shot rifles, and single or dual action handguns, then all current firearms that don’t meet those qualifications are not what the Founders envisioned.
After all, the Founders didn’t think individuals should own cannons or warships or anything heavier than they could normally carry. And they thought of a well regulated militia, not everyone and their crazy uncle running with a cache of AR-15s, shotguns, and thousands upon thousands of rounds of ammo.
