That’s not stopped states and localities from implementing property taxes.

All assets are property, therefore a wealth tax is just a property tax.

florida had an intangibles tax
repealed in 2007

- they had no way to know if someone didnt file but should have
- taxpayers determined the market values

a cottage industry grew - for the wealthy of course - Florida intangible tax trusts or Florida intangible tax-exempt trusts

florida still has a tangible personal property tax for businesses
the business lists its assets on a form and pays a tax.

you think businesses list ‘all articles of value that the owner can physically possess and have intrinsic value’ (except for exclusions)?

i have never heard of a tpp being audited or verified, though these days it is much easier to identify potential nonfilers because most businesses themselves have to be registered somewhere - state, county, town
