I am a “creation-ist”, in a certain sense, but I’ve kept quiet because the word’s been taken over by events.

I believe God created the universe in some unknown, AND unknowable, way, way th’ heck back at whatever it was — call it a Big Bang, to have a name for it. I believe God created a system which would come to use things like evolution, and whatever else we haven’t yet discovered.

(There’s no empiricism involved. It’s what I feel. I have no special insight. It’s merely who I am at this point in in my spirit journey.)

If someone wants to start teaching that in science classes, I will scream bloody murder. They will be cheapening both science and what I believe.
