In fact, Boxer, Brown, Whitman, Fiornia— they’re all against it. None of them want the prison union as an enemy.

This is an issue where there actually is balance; Democrats and Republicans are pretty much equally terrible, in California, on the subject of marijuana legalization, at least in the upper echelons.

I have no idea if the Democratic rank-and-file are more or less opposed to legalization than the Republican rank-and-file. If they are, then the Democratic leadership is just even more hypocritical on this front.
