It was. And nobody comes out looking good, except for Marty Balin from the Airplane, who tried to stop a Hell’s Angels beatdown and got knocked cold for his trouble.

The Stones looked particularly bad. It was their decision to hire the Angels and pay them with $500 worth of beer. I’m been in proximity to the HAs a lot of times, and that in itself was a sure recipe for disaster.

I wonder if whoever hired them had read the Thompson book on the Angels and thought they were these romantic figures. I haven’t read that book though. I’ve been watching a lot of stuff on that era lately though. Watched a Hendrix one on Wednesday night. I’m convinced Jimi was on the spectrum like I am.
