IANAL, but from what I’ve gleaned here and there, in a civil case, you can’t appeal citing ineffective counsel. You can, however, sue a nitwit lawyer for legal malpractice.

Perhaps a lawyer can chime in here.

I’ve never heard of “ineffective assistance of counsel” except in the context of a criminal appeal.
