I’d argue that it’s not about the interest but about the expectation of recompensation. Basically if the expectation is that you pay it back, it’s a loan. I lend my partners cash all the time and while there may not be any interest, it’s understood that if I don’t get my money back I’m going to be kicking someone in the beanbag.
