What’s instructive here is that this was a comparatively high turnout election to 2012, and that in a off year primary Cantor seems to have lost primarily because he didn’t hate immigrants enough. He didn’t schedule any votes on immigration reform, but at least on paper he gave wishy washy sentiments of approval for some nebulous version of the DREAM Act and allowing foreign citizen veterans of our military gain legal status. He obstructed actual immigration reform efforts at pretty much every turn, but Brat was able to paint him as an amnesty supporting liberal because Cantor didn’t back up his obstruction with vocal expressions of hate.

So, seriously, fuck the Republican party. Fuck it right in the neck.
