He’s pro gay marriage and a believer in global warming. And a lot of his movies have an anti war feel to them. Haven’t seen American Sniper yet though.

Another one of his films was Letters From Iwo Jima, which tells WWII from the Japanese point of view, or at least centers on Japanese characters. Spoken in Japanese if I’m not mistaken.
