Text is now a verb. Sext is a neologism, based off of it.
Meme, once an obscure term, is now commonly used.
Then there are words like selfie, abbreviations like IIRC, LOL, BBIAB, and so on.

Just imagine how hard it is for English language learners to decipher our weird language. Even news articles use so many neologisms and idioms that my students can barely understand what they’re about.

Ha. And then most likely your students use some words and terms that you can barely understand what they are about. It’s a funny world and hard to keep up with it all.
