It was embarrassing the way people started yammering about PTSD as causative, showing a weird lack of understanding of what the hell PTSD is.

The media hasn’t really done a good job explaining what PTSD is, Obdi. There are better sources of information about PTSD available to ordinary people, and I read some of them in the course of my previous employment at Marcus Evans in order to better understand the events I was selling seats to. But most people aren’t motivated to seek out better sources of information and so they are left with flawed media reporting.
