And taker states is not a slur—it’s a fact of life. And my state is the worst of the bunch: The Palmetto State receives $7.87 back from Washington for every $1 its citizens pay in federal tax.

I agree that change has to come from the bottom up. Sometimes the bottom needs help from the top.

Democrats tend to use the term “taker state” the same way that Republicans use “taker” to refer to people on assistance: as a slur.

I honestly don’t understand why South Carolina votes the way it does. As I recall from my time there, the minority population is in fact the majority.

I recall an incident from the news where Governor Nikki Haley was making an address, and someone in the crowd yelled at her to “go back to her country.” Nikki Haley is from South Carolina.
