Oh, those games definitely have something going for them, and I do appreciate the tighter narrative they can accomplish with that. But they don’t seem to offer the same types of choices, which have consequences, that you get in a game like, say… Torment.
Torment is sort of in between, really! It’s got an emphasis on story and a much tighter and less sandboxey design than, say, Baldur’s Gate, you’re always close to the story track, but the story track is a series of hubs.
