You know, I love my country as much as humanly possible, but I never bought into the whole “God bless America” thing. It never made sense to me that on a planet that’s inhabited by six billion people, that a country that makes up 5% of it would get the man upstairs’ good graces.

To me the stupidest, most asinine religious notion is that everything happens because it is the will of God. Really, if everything that happens on earth is the predetermined will of God, then what the heck is the point in heaven and hell? That is why Thomas Jefferson described Calvinism as Daemonism.
