Hmm. You might like Umberto Eco. I’ve read _The Name of the Rose_ and _Foucalt’s Pendulum_. The latter fits the current US political climate since it is about conspiracy theories in part.

Read them and yes, I love Eco. The last one I read (listened to) was this one. He is really good at twisting my brain.
