Perhaps there was a more economical way to go. It is also pretty well known that I am no fan of Jindal. However, as a governor, he does have a security detail and he does have to get wherever he is going. It is not as if he can just get in the car and zip over to someplace.

I think it is a bit unfair to audit absolutely every trip our elected officials make to the extent that they have to be prisoners in their offices - or that they have to be consigned to only eating oatmeal for dinner. If someone wants to go and pray, or have a decent steak, or whatever, well it’s a tough job, give them a break.

In terms of government money, this is bupkas.

This is not like he was taking the chopper to fly his buddies to an exclusive golf resort for a couple of holes after lunch. It is not as if he took the chopper to go see his mistress.

That’s all well and good, if we were speaking about some hypothetical governor from State X. But this is Bobby-Effing-Jindal. A guy that rants about big government, wasteful spending and such. He chastised budgeting for Volcano Monitoring, even though he represents a state that might know a thing or two about natural disasters.

You don’t get to wear the Conservative Hat, and then jetset around your state, it does not compute.
