Yeah. But that 5,802 is the CITY of Stone Mountain. (incorporated). There are UNincorporated parts surrounding the city “proper” where most of the land mass and population are. They are listed as a part of the county (DeKalb) similar to where I live. My property isn’t part of the CITY of the town I liv ein, thus not counted in their stats, but rather as a part of the county

I’ve lived in towns like that before up in the Pacific NW.

There was a village in the south of the Czech Republic my ex-wife was hankering to live in - the livestock outnumbered the people 4:1.

A little too rustic for me, though nice to visit.
