There have been sex scandals involving the Catholic Church for years, but this latest set of circumstances may involve the highest ranks, including the current pope (while he was Cardinal). Instead of his press flacks diverting attention, the Pope must come out and deal with this directly. It means admitting mistakes - and setting new precedent in dealing with those who have violated their sacred duties and obligations to their parishioners.

or perhaps just prosecute the offenders and be done with it?
