I’ve always been able to suspend my disbelief watching fantasy movies, but disaster movies need to follow real physics and they always fail.

Most science fiction still requires some suspension of some part of physics. Even Star Trek requires us to accept that we’ve created a form of space travel that gets around General Relativity.
