Ha yeah I know. I guess my point is if the CSA was so enlightened, they would have allowed blacks to serve as soldiers which they did not.

Letting black men serve as soilders would have undermined the whole rationale for slavery. People who are supposed to be subhuman beasts of burden can’t be good fighters can they? Plus if you gave them guns, who would they be most inclined to shoot at?
