we have to fight the war in front of us, not the one we wish we had
and that means recognizing that ‘the other side’ is the virus plus the magats and the anti-vaxxers
your number one objective is to keep you and your own people alive.
so in this circumstance, your first job is to fight the micro war
get the vaccine as soon as you can. continue to protect yourselves with mask, distance, and hand washing.
stay vigilant and do not let your guard down. this will be for a long time.
things don’t go ‘back to normal’ just because you got the shot. it’s more complicated.
the macro war - getting enough of everyone else vaccinated / herd immunity is a secondary problem, made secondary by those people. and it will take much much longer.
we must recognize and accept that there are two fronts
keep them separated in your mind for sanity and in your strategic thinking for better success.
