From the sound of it, the final product was hopped up a bit with that rebuild.

That was a Super Beetle. And it was not a stock engine to begin with. It was a rebuild of a build. To my eyes. Not stock exhaust and carburetor. My wife owned one. To my minds eye, that’s what I recall.
