With 96% of precincts in, according to the NY State Board of Elections, there have been 26,500 votes cast in NY-14, including write-in votes and blanks, of which Ocasio has 15,143. Total Democrats registered in the district: 214,570. That works out to just over 12% turnout, and 7% voting for a winner that nearly every other Democrat in America will need to run from at top speed.

Oh good grief. She ran a campaign that actually engaged the residents of the area, and on a platform that is even slightly left-of-center (a shift that we have DESPERATELY needed during the last 20-odd year sprint to the far right), and actually won. What exactly do you want Democrats to be? A just slightly less fascist version of Republicans?
