I also believe he was blinded like a deer in the headlights at the thought of what would happen if his heavily-leveraged properties lost their revenue streams…it would be embarrassing for a President to have to declare insolvency to banks in China, Russia, Germany and Saudi Arabia…
Hence why the whole idea of “We need a businessman as president!” seemed like a great idea when we imagined titans of industry, rather than a failed slum lord with delusions of grandeur.
