Modern methods of communication make such things increasingly irrelevant. I recall visiting with some friends about a decade ago, and talking with their son (then aged about 14). He literally couldn’t (or, to be precise, never bothered to) write longhand. Anything. His logic? Anything important to communicate could be typed. Except for his signature, which was basically a stylized glyph, so why bother “writing”?
To tell a truth, I never really learned cursive. My signature is just connected letters.
