They are already splitting into factions and falling apart. As far as I can tell, the party is made up of some serious politicians with a right-wing agenda, numerous ideologues, with a smattering of sadistic sociopaths, xenophobes and cryptofascists thrown in.

I do not think it will be able to deal with its own success. And for now, it has the luxury of being a protest party: it does not have to come up with viable proposals or solutions, just whine and complain a lot.

But just imagine a nation in which the AfD managed to take over a major political party and convince it that it needed their support and their preferred candidate in order to succeed….and you would pretty much have the GOP and the Tea Party in 2016.
