Yes, but the broader consensus around the country still has trouble doing that, precisely because ‘terrorism’ has far to often become less about whether there was any broader political intent behind the attacks, but a tribal identifier. The word is already compromised in that sense far as its common use.

I guess I fail to see how embracing that tribal identifier is going to push back against the people who were misusing it.

I do see where it will make it harder to point out the hypocrisy of the people doing so.

In the end, the only thing I can control is my own integrity and willingness to be careful with the words I use. I’d like to think that for those who pay attention to that sort of thing, it will make the occasions where I do use certain words more meaningful.
