It’s starting to feel a lot like 1976.
The only good news on that front is…Carter never got a second term.

JFK also pushed for nuclear nonproliferation. Where did he start? Where he could exert pressure: Israel. No signs of it yet with Obama, but I really hope he doesn’t start trying to get Israel to “set an example” in that sphere. The answer would be a forceful NO (and more crude versions in private), but it would raise the tension and conflict between two otherwise strong allies.

Since when does being president means being nice to your enemies and screwing your allies?
