Not gonna happen. Desktop applications are boring and are never going to attract the interest of OSS geeks, who save their attention for more bleeding-edge types of projects. Until the edge stops bleeding and something else attracts their attention.

Compilers, web servers and operating systems are a pretty deep well. Word processors and spreadsheets, not so much.

And in the background, you’ve got Richard Stallman and his cohorts ranting away like loons, using the OSS movement as cover in their attempt to subvert intellectual property rights across the board.
