I think it would do good for your argument to:

A) Not use insults.

B) Separate the argument between executive power overreach— which I completely agree with— from anything about torture in re torture. Combining the two makes it unwieldy.

I get what you’re saying— Bush (and Cheney!) expanded the power of the executive branch hugely, so claims of ‘limited government’ have some ‘splaining to do for those who supported that expansion. But tying it directly to the torture makes your argument more difficult to follow, and weakens it.

And I am not a torture supporter in any way.
