In my experience, Latino Republicans tend to be people who grew up in the suburbs like me, and who think they’re rich because they’re not on welfare like those poor Mexicans doing day labor to get by. That gives them an excuse to sneer at others as inferior.

I’ve had this argument with several uncles of mine. I’ve had to point out to them that for all their supposed wealth and privilege, every Republican north of San Antonio thinks of them as wetbacks and illegals because of their last name, and that the national GOP thinks of them as useful idiots.
