Insurance as a concept works well when high-impact events are relatively rare on a per person basis.

But everyone needs healthcare sooner or later. And more often it is later in life, and the costs then are huge for life-threatening problems.

We’ve been over this many times. It is why I believe a socialized system of spreading around healthcare costs is the only real method, if one’s goals is to ensure that every American has access to necessary healthcare.
