Veterans are already under enough stress trying to readjust to civilian life after multiple deployments into war zones. Giving them a helping hand isn’t a bad thing, and an additional resource would have been a good thing.

THIS.

When I started grad school, there were 25 of us in our group. We graduated with 24. The one that dropped out was a war vet who’d just come back after multiple tours in Afghanistan.

He had a super hard time adjusting to civilian life again, even with the university and the VA working together to try and help him out. The school even offered to defer his admission for a year to give him time to work things out. Eventually, he dropped out and now he’s got a small business with some friends and he seems happier and in a better place.

He’s not the only vet who’s in that position. A job corps that is specific to veterans and which would help them readjust to civilian life and run by people who know what they’re going through would be amazing. It’s a shame it got killed.
