No, there is no doubt about who did it or what party they were part of at the time. Moreover, many such people are not comfortable as Republicans. Thet was why a Mississippi congressional district went to the Dems when they ran a Blue Dog. There are still some southerners who don’t want to be Republicans due to the Civil War. I wish I was kidding but I’m not.

This party affiliation tribalism is totally insane. The reason I identify as a Democrat is entirely due to issues. And I’ve voted for many Republicans for issues and competence reasons.
