One little thing from the debate that bugged me was the notion that the middle class extends to households making $250K per year. What the fuck is that and when did it start? Because it’s one of those ways in which self centered pricks use their power to define the middle class in ways that are wildly unrealistic for the vast majority of families making anywhere near the median income.

The sheer assholeness of the people who perpetuate this bullshit is simply amazing.

Yes! It is a nod to Manhattanites, I’ll bet. We’re at about the median (finally but not ever sure) and that’s slightly less than five times what we make. It’s a political ploy to not alienate the people who won’t vote for you anyway.
