Only thing that I can’t get out of my mind is: any modern day Anne Frank needs to be very aware and ready for anything.

There are a lot of middle-of-the-road Europeans who are far too smug about their superiority to their Fox News model of the US. I’ve lived here in Europe for a decade blending in as a middle aged white guy, and people get along with Americans perfectly fine on a personal level. But you get into some political discussions where they buy in to every stupid right wing stereotype of the US and tell you, you know, it’s quite different over here in Europe. Yeah, okay.

There are right wing resugencies basically everywhere, and it seems that there’s a liberal backlash afterwards as a bunch of people who just rolled their eyes at Uncle Hans’s ranting about the Syrians and the gypsies as just harmless village crap start realizing the danger.
